We went to BioRob 2026! 🍁

The 11th International Conference on Biomedical Robotics and Biomechatronics (BioRob 2026) took place between August 1-4 in Edmonton, Canada. Those four days in Edmonton were filled with inspiring talks and interesting discussions with researchers across the biorobotics community. The conference covered a wide range of topics—from innovative mechanical designs for assistive devices to emerging efforts toward end-to-end foundational models for control. We are fueled with motivation and fresh ideas for our own work!

We are also grateful for the opportunity to present our research. AIROB contributed three oral presentations by Lisa, Hannah, and Silvana, along with a guest appearance by Claudio at the improv theater performance during Monday’s banquet 💬🎭

Our oral presentations comprised the following work:

▪️”A Recipe for Unsupervised Myocontrol – Co-Adaptive Training and Assessment in Physics-Based VR” presented by Lisa
▪️”Incremental Deep Learning for Single-Finger Myoelectric Control: A Comparative Closed-Loop Study of CNN and LSTM Architectures” presented by Hannah
▪️”Fast and Compact Ultrasound Features for Real-Time Hand Intent Detection in Human-Robot Interfaces” presented by Silvana

A big thank you to the organizers for putting together such a well-run event!
