Three days in Munich, three papers, and a special session on upper-limb prosthetics! Claudio Castellini, Marek Sierotowicz, Fabio Egle, and Hannah Braun represented AIROB at IEEE CBS 2026, with plenty of opportunities for interesting talks, thoughtful questions, and discussions with fellow researchers.
We were delighted to share our work on biosignal sensing and prosthesis control through three oral presentations:
- “Force Myography for Voluntary Muscular Activity Detection under Functional Electrical Stimulation”
- “Co-Located Ultrasound and Tattoo-Electrode sEMG for Hand Gesture Decoding”
- “Co-Adaptive Velocity and Position Control of 3-DoFs Prosthesis via Incremental Learning” — a collaboration with Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, presented by Dario Di Domenico.
We also co-organized the special session “Closing the Loop in Upper-Limb Prosthetics: New Perspectives on Mechatronics, Control, and Sensory Feedback.” The session explored the possibilities and limitations of emerging approaches, from decoding user intent and designing dexterous prosthetic hands to sensory feedback, AI-based control, and surgical interfaces.
A big thank you to our invited speakers Matteo Laffranchi, Strahinja Dosen, Jennifer Ernst, Lorenzo Natale, and Alessandro Del Vecchio for sharing their perspectives, and to everyone who joined the discussion!
Thank you to the CBS organizers for a well-run conference and to the community for the good company. See you in Osaka in 2027!
