The AIROB Lab announces an open positions for Master’s project and/or Research Internship to investigate, design and implement a versatile force myography sensor in cooperation with Ottobock

In cooperation with Ottobock, the AIROB lab is investigating force myography (FMG) technology as an intent detection and control technology for orthopedic devices. The FMG sensor technology will be implemented with a new line of sensors in assistive devices from Ottobock. The sensor design will be based on the current iteration of FMG sensors present at AIROB and should prioritize versatility and ease of use. The project will also involve a few weeks stay at an Ottobock site.

The tasks include, among others:

  • Designing a more versatile version of the FMG sensor electronics
  • Design a proper containment case
  • Implement and characterize a first prototype
  • Support prototype implementation at Ottobock

Required Qualifications

  • (intermediate) Experience in E-CAD
  • (intermediate) Experience in CAD
  • (intermediate) Experience with Electronics
  • basics in Control theory

Additional Qualifications (not required)

  • Basic knowledge in Biosignal Processing (e.g. Filtering) and Machine Learning
  • Experience with Python, Matlab, Data Analysis, C#, Data Visualization
  • Experience with 2D-Design (e.g. Inkscape/CorelDraw)
  • Experience with LaTEX, Office programs, Technical Documentation (e.g. in a Wiki)
