External PhD candidate @AIROB

Assistive Intelligent Robotics Lab | AIROB Lab

Mr. Werner Friedl is a research fellow at the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Munich, since 2004. Since 2023 he is an external Ph.D. candidate at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlengen-Nürnberg. He obtained a Diplom degree  in Mechatronics at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich in 2004.

His research focusses on mechatronic design of robots hands, in particular hands with variable stiffness actuation. He joined several EU projects (Viactors, THE, SoMa) in the past, and currently works on the EU projects IntelliMan and SoftEnable, and the Bavarian-founded project Smarthand.
