We are excited to share the news: our paper about intent detection in SCI patients declared complete is now out on Brain. In this work, mainly conducted at the Rummelsberg Clinic for Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation, under the guidance of Dr. Matthias Ponfick, and by Alessandro Del Vecchio’s team at FAU, we show that SCI patients with no residual motor activity in the hands still have residual motor unit activity, which can be harvested to provide control over virtual hands and fingers.

Here and here you can find two videoclips showing the system in action.

Big congratulations!
